'THESIS' - Directed by Carl Grinter, this alternative documentary captures the monumental journey of the Apollo 11 crew. My soundtrack for THESIS weaves through the full timeline of their mission, mirroring the relentless human spirit and the intrinsic need to communicate and survive.
'A Better Man' - Directed by Rebecca Tranter, this psychological drama delves into the shadows of a troubled mind. The music I composed for A Better Man aims to reflect the haunting complexities and the concealed past of its protagonist, creating an immersive auditory experience that echoes the film's profound themes.
A Musical Journey
Transformed by Analogue Synthesizers
One day in 1975, my musical influences expanded dramatically upon hearing Vangelis' seminal album 'Albedo 0.39'.
The soaring analogue synthesizers, coupled with the processed Fender Rhodes, changed my life forever. I put down my guitar and, with two linked cassette decks, recorded anything I could find that made a musical note, layering and effecting it to strive for that synthesizer sound. Vangelis was using, among other synthesizers, a Yamaha CS-80, which cost over £9,000 – well out of my price range!
For four years, I continued this method, using processed electric guitars, bells, flowerpots, kitchen utensils, and even a child’s Bontempi Organ. Then in 1979, a revelation occurred: electronics designer Chris Huggett and musician Adrian Wagner released the Wasp synthesizer for only £200!
This was a game changer for many of us musicians and marked the beginning of my lifelong love affair with all things keyboard and synth. The rest, as they say, is history.
RETROFREEFORM is an album I have written and recorded using modern, faithful replicas of those analogue synths, to recreate that pure analogue sound us synthoians love, from Vangelis to Jean-Michel Jarre and everyone in between.

2024: The Birth of 'RETROFREEFORM'
2024 marked the release of 'RETROFREEFORM', a synthesiser album that pays homage to the pioneers of electronic music. Using faithful replicas of analogue synthesisers, I sought to capture the essence of the sounds that artists like Vangelis and Jean-Michel Jarre immortalized. Each track is a journey back in time, yet freshly reimagined for today's listeners.
